Focal spot X-ray tube में वह area होता है जहाँ electrons anode पर strike करते हैं और X-ray photons produce होते हैं।
Small focal spot :
Better spatial resolution (detail) देती है।
Useful for fine structures (जैसे extremities, small bones) की imaging।
Limitation: Heat load capacity कम होती है, यानी high mA या prolonged exposure नहीं दे सकते।
Large focal spot :
Heat dissipation ज़्यादा कर सकता है।
Useful for large body parts या high exposure techniques में।
Image sharpness थोड़ी कम हो सकती है।
