Collimation का मतलब है X-ray beam को केवल उस target area तक restrict करना जहाँ imaging जरूरी है।
Focal spot X-ray tube में वह area होता है जहाँ electrons anode पर strike करते हैं और X-ray photons produce होते हैं।
📌 इससे unnecessary radiation exposure कम होता है और scatter radiation भी घटती है, जिससे image contrast improve होता है।
📌 Proper collimation patient safety और radiation protection principles (जैसे ALARA) को support करता है।
📌 Collimator में lead shutters होते हैं, जिनसे field size precisely control किया जाता है।
